This week I started my skateboard chair. First I modeled a skateboard deck that I borrowed form my friend. This was quick and pretty easy since I enjoy modeling things that already exist. Once I had the deck modeled in CAD I was able to model the frame since I new how big it had to be. The frame is gong to be made on the CNC router out of inch and a half wood. Each leg will be made of two pieces making them three inches wide. This is to increase the strength and so I can use the pre existing holes in the skate decks.
These two screenshots show the progress of my frame while I was designing it. The left is the first version where the legs were going to be separate and fit into a notch at the back of the chair. The right is the newer version as I updated it. The reasoning behind this change was that I wanted the legs to be stronger, that is why I made it one piece instead of two. Also I am thinking about adding a shelf underneath so the single piece frame will make that possible.
