This week I continued to work on the g-code for my lamp base. G-code is how the cad model that you create communicates to the machine you are using to manufacturer the part. You have to go in and manually select all the features of your part and then the computer will figure out the best way to make the cut.

This is what the machine sees when it looks at g-code. These are all the commands that it will do to mil the part. It looks similar to any other type of code.

This is a picture of my stock after facing. Facing is usually the first step to milling anything. It is when you use a facing bit to cut down the surface of your stock so that you can start with a perfectly flat surface. You need to face the material before doing anything else.
