I started this week by receiving my part back from metal fabrication after they welded it together for me. I started working on it by facing the bottom in the lathe. After it was faced I then drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the bottom. The hole is meat so that the contents could be pushed out after everything has been clamped together. After I needed to turn something to push into the whole to push everything out. I found a small piece of stock roughly the same size at the hole and then cut it down to length. All that I did was bevel the ends to remove any sharp corners.

The next step of machining would be to turn two disks the same diameter as the inside of the cylinder. These disks will act as the surface that will be pressed together in the press. I started by turning a piece of stock down to 3/4 inches and then taking off a little more to have the disks slide in easily. After I parted the disks which left some material which I had to sand off after.
