This week I took the next steps on the Bass, and it is getting very close to completion. I started the week off by sanding down the neck pocket a little so that the neck I have fits in well. I then attached the neck using the neck plate that I made using the water jet cutter. After the neck was attached I could then use it to help align the bridge. To align the bridge so that it would be straight with the neck I took the two outside strings (E string and G string) and placed them in the nut. I then moved the bridge into the correct position and lined it up so that everything was square. This method also allows for measurements of the strings to the outside of the fingerboard which was an important step to ensure the strings all fit properly. The next steps will be to attach the pickups to the electronics and then to purchase and install tuning machines. I am waiting to finish the body in nitro until everything is in working order.
