This week my focus shifted from working on the fish feeder to a new project along with the assembly of my Bass. The new project I am working on is a waterproof match holder that I will be making on the lathe. The match holder will be designed to hold strike anywhere matches and the side of the container will be knurled. Knurling is creating a certain texture that is made from many lines that face in opposite directions. The point of the Knurling will be so that the strike anywhere matches can be activated on the side of the container.
As for the Bass, this week I received the neck in the mail and this is a critical step to the process since it is one of the last things that I needed to actually start the assembly. Once the neck arrived I got to work sanding down the inside of the neck pocket so that I would have a better fit. This is not a bad sign since even on professionally made instruments this still has to be done since every neck and body is a little different.
